About NLP
What is NLP? Neuro Linguistic Programming, known in short as NLP (for obvious reasons) is one of the results of a study of business excellence in the late 70s. One of the findings of the research was that of 'modelling' someone who was already successful and then someone else applying that model to themselves often gave the save results of the person who was modelled. The study also went into the words used and how they could affect the mindset of either the user or the client and effectively 're-program' that person to a different way of thinking.
Isn't there more to it than that? Yes of course. There is much more relating to eye movement patterns, body language and what is often called 'wide awake hypnosis' which sounds more sinister than it really is. In reality it is as much down to the phrasing of sentences to make them more appealing or at least less unacceptable. The sort of thing the average car salesman or estate agent would use to encorage a sale - and these people may not even have studied NLP even if they had been on a sales course. They just know how to dress up the words a bit prettier.
What can NLP do for you? NLP takes more study in causes and effects and is more about getting agreements than trances. NLP can also be used for phobia removal and promoting good behaviour / removing bad behaviour although the methods will be very different to hypnosis. Many NLP practioners started with hypnosis and use the two disciplines in conjuction, deciding which will have the better results for a given client.
